Hi, I’m Ian Rotea

I’m a product and UX/UI designer with over 20 years of experience designing digital products and websites across agencies, in-house teams and freelance work.

I work across the full product lifecycle — shaping ideas, defining structure and delivering clear, usable interfaces. Sometimes that means leading the design. Sometimes it means working closely with product managers and engineers to make sure what ships actually works.

My background as a web developer shapes how I approach design. I think about constraints early — what’s feasible, what will scale, and what teams can realistically maintain.

I also use AI tools in my workflow where they genuinely help. Things like analysing user feedback, summarising research interviews, spotting patterns in support data, and quickly exploring interface ideas or prototypes. It speeds up the early stages of design, while the focus stays on clear thinking and solid design fundamentals.

I’ve worked on regulated enterprise tools, SaaS platforms, internal systems and consumer facing products, as well as brand websites and digital platforms built through agency work. The common thread is clear thinking, practical decisions and getting things shipped.

Outside of work, I’m usually with my family, off in the camper van mountain biking or hiking, fishing when I can, or playing guitar and working on music production.
